Annotated Transcript
This page is an annotated transcript of my graduate education in the Master of Arts in Educational Technology (MAET) Program through Michigan State University (MSU). During this time, I took two types of courses: Teacher Education (TE) and Counseling, Educational Psychology, and Special Education (CEP).
TE 802 - Reflection & Inquiry in Teaching Practice I
Fall 2021 - Avner Segall
This course was taken during my student internship year through Michigan State University (MSU). In this course, I learned about how to effectively use the Michigan Standards in Social Studies, while following the curriculum and guidelines provided by school districts. We participated in discussions on current events and how they can impact our classroom, and we brainstormed lesson plans on various topics. We brought issues that we were experiencing in our student teaching that were related to the content to this community and came up with solutions. Overall, this class was to support our growth as teachers while participating in our student internships.
TE 803 - Professional Roles & Teaching Practice II
Spring 2022 - Megan Walser
This class was also taken during my student internship year. In this course, we focused on the difficulties teachers come across in their classrooms. We emphasized the importance of equity and inclusion, while discussing the best practices of classroom management. We explored real life scenarios and created possible action steps to go about these situations. It also helped support our transition from student teaching to looking for a full-time job by reviewing job skills such as mock interviews.
TE 804 - Reflection & Inquiry in Teaching Practice II
Spring 2022 - Avner Segall
This course was a continuation of “Reflection & Inquiry in Teaching Practice I” where the course was focused on supporting students who were majoring in social studies. We continued to learn how to tie lessons to the state curriculum while discussing critical thinking strategies for students. We explored several different social studies topics and discussed how to design lessons related to them. We also discussed how to best teach our content in our current political climate. This class ended in the creation of my online portfolio.
CEP 824 - Programming Concepts K12 Educators
Spring 2025 - William Marsland
This course focused on the fundamentals of programming for educators. While I am not a computer science educator, many of my students are interested in coding, and I wanted to be able to be a resource for them. I learned the basic concepts of coding, including learning how to create resources on scratch.mit.edu. I also learned the process of how people learn to code and strategies to best support students in this. My final project for this class included creating a coding project that was related to my content focus, social studies.
CEP 812 - Applying Educational Technology to Issues of Practice
Spring 2025 - Nicole Zumpano
For this course, we focused on the book “A More Beautiful Question” by Warren Berger. We explored “Wicked Problems” where we developed questions that do not have one, clear answer. We examined survey design, conducted research, and developed possible solutions to our chosen problem, while also exploring new technology tools. To share our information, we chose an online resource that we had not used before to display our information. Click here to see some of my work from this class.
CEP 811 - Adapting Innovative Technologies to Education
Summer 2025 - Edith Erickson
During this class, I chose one brand new piece of technology that I’ve never used, but that I wanted to learn more about and use in my classroom. For this, I chose a 3D pen. I explored how to use it and how to implement unique tools such as this pen in my classroom. We also tested out several other resources and learned how to use this technology to meet diverse learning needs. Click here to see some of my work from this class.
CEP 800 - Learning in School & Other Settings
Summer 2025 - Liz Boltz, Christopher Sloan
This was the first course that I completed while in Galway, Ireland as a part of a 2 week study abroad program. In this class, we learned about different learning theories and how they are represented in the classroom. I analyzed my own teaching style and discussed which theory I best aligned with. We explored how we represent these theories in our classrooms and designed checklists to align our practices with them. Click here to see my creations from this course.
CEP 822 - Approaches to Educational Research
Summer 2025 - Liz Boltz, Christopher Sloan
This was the second course that I completed while in Galway, Ireland as a part of a 2 week study abroad program. For this course, we brainstormed current problems that the education system is facing, and chose one that we were most interested in. The question that I focused on was: Does having peer and self assessments for group work make group work assessments more effective and equitable? Because this was a shortened course, we did not do a full research project, but we did develop a survey and action research plan showing the proper steps we would have taken. Then, we had Irish educators provide us feedback for our plans, and we made adjustments to our projects.
CEP 810 - Teaching for Understanding with Technology
Fall 2025 - Deborah McHorney
This course focused on technology and the successful implementation of it in a classroom setting. I explored several new technology resources and used the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework to help guide my creations. We examined how students learned and used this information to support our lesson plans. I found this course to be very beneficial because it blended together much of what I had learned in my other courses. Click here to view my creations from this course.
CEP 807 - Capstone Seminar
Fall 2025 - Matthew Koehler
This was the final course of my master’s program. In this class, we focused on the creation of our professional website, which is what you are currently viewing. I had made this website for a previous class, but focused on developing and finalizing it in this course. As I created my website, I reviewed the past work I had done in previous classes and organized the website to show this work and progress that I have made as an educator. This website also gave me a platform to reflect on my time in the master’s program and acknowledged how far I have come.
